As early as 1909, the nature photographer Richard Kearton and his brother, Cherry, built several "mimetic hides" in their pioneering attempts to get ever closer to their subjects. One would hide inside the fake animal, fooling any species that crossed it's path, and was able to capture images theretofore unknowable.
Pretty cool! His brother's name was Cherry!
